Penguinese: Noot! Pingu nit nit neet nute nute nit nute nit-noot nit-nit-nute noot, nit-noot, noot-noot-nit.
Vague Translation: Noot! (untranslatable). Pingu is a cute and mischievous 5 year old penguin who lives in the South Pole with his mum, dad, toddler sister Pinga and lots of friends. Most of the time he is messing around and playing practical jokes on his sister Pinga but is actually a good penguin at heart. He’s actually pretty good at looking after his sister Pinga, cooking together, trying to potty train her etc.!
A bit about Pingu…
Pingu has been a childhood classic for many people with the first episode airing in 1986 (hence I believe Pingu was born in 1981). His name comes from the German word for Penguin, ‘Pinguin’ - I think perhaps his parents went on honeymoon in Germany…
Due to no-one understanding a word of ‘Penguinese’ (also referred to as Pinguish), Pingu has been enjoyed by people around the world. Most recently he moved to the city to see all the exciting jobs others have in ‘Pingu in the City’, and being the good lad he is, he tries to help them…with awkward consequences….
If you’re able to get them, there have also been 2 games released by Nintendo for the DS involving Pingu! ‘Pingu no Waku Waku Carnival’ (Pingu's Wonderful Carnival) and Fun Fun Pingu.
